Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. – Six players scored in double figures and the Northwest Christian University men's basketball team jumped into a seventh-place tie in the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Sunday, knocking off The Evergreen State College, 86-70.
Brian Hampton led the Beacons with 22 points.
The Beacons were a scorching 16-for-22 in the second half and finished the night with a 55.7% shooting percentage. Evergreen hit at a 41% clip but was just 6-for-25 from three-point range. Northwest Christian completes a season sweep over the Geoducks for the first time in school history.
Hampton finished the game shooting 9-for-13 from the field adding a game-high six assists.
Tyler Fox, Mitch Wilson and
Travis Pacos each scored eleven points for NCU while
Jordan Buhler and
Brody McGowan scored ten apiece. McGowan added a team-high eight rebounds in the win. NCU grabbed eight steals in the game off of 17 ESC turnovers, led by three from Hampton.
Elzie Dickens came off the bench to lead Evergreen (1-18, 0-10) with 18 points. Patrick Lewis registered a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. The Geoducks out-boarded NCU 41-40 and brought in 17 offensive rebounds. Larry Green scored 13 points and Mike Derosier added eleven in the loss.
NCU will be back in action on Monday, traveling to Kirkland, Washington to face No. 12 Northwest (18-2, 8-2). Evergreen State will play host to Corban University (11-11, 3-7).
