KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Beacons dropped their second straight CCC match up on Saturday night as they were shut out against Oregon Tech, 3-0. NCU held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal, but were never able to convert a score in the loss.
It was a 1-0 game at halftime after a goal by Victor Corona in the 30th minute. Corona took a long pass along the sideline from Jimmy Merkley, beat his defender and chipped the ball past NCU keeper
Erik Carrazco.
The Owls added an insurance goal in the 53rd minute when Corona once again found the net on a 15-yard strike after a long cross from Brandon Schoemann. The final goal came with just three minutes remaining when Michael Eagle crossed the ball into Rey Chaolla who finished.
Head Coach
Brett Bentley said, “It was really a back-and-fourth game, but a few defensive errors cost us. We had a number of opportunities develop that we weren't able to convert. It was a tough loss but we have realized some things that we need to improve upon moving forward.”
The Beacons (2-4, 0-2 CCC) collected 15 shots in the game with five on frame.
Michael Luevanos (pictured) led the team with four shots while
Alex Crossingham put up a team-high two shots on goal. Carrazco, getting his first start of the season in goal, picked up one save.
NCU will return to action on Wednesday night, returning home to face The Evergreen State College at 4:00 pm.
