Late Goal Dooms Beacons

ROCKLIN, Calif. – After 85 scoreless minutes a corner kick led to the decisive score as the Northwest Christian University men's soccer team lost to William Jessup on Friday, 1-0.

Head Coach Brett Bentley said, “We had the better of it for the majority of the game, but we did have some poor decision making, trying to force the issue too much near their goal and not letting things develop naturally behind their defensive line.”

Junior goalkeeper Nick Kratzke had a strong game for the Beacons, hauling in four saves, including three in the first half as the Warriors peppered seven shots over the first 45 minutes of the contest.

The Beacons outshot WJU 8-4 in the second frame, but weren't able to punch one across as their record moved to 1-1.

“We are doing some good things,” said Bentley, “and we will build upon this steps that we are making.”

Northwest Christian returns to action on Thursday night as the travel to McMinnville to face Linfield at 7:00 pm.
