Redding, Calif. - The Northwest Christian University softball team closed out play in the Simpson University Invitational on Saturday night with an 8-0 loss to California Baptist University in five innings.
"We played a good game, despite the score," said head coach Tim Hood. "Brooke shut them down in order over the last two innings, and we didn't commit a single error. They are simply a great team that flat out hits the ball."
Junior
Brooke Davis (1-2) suffered her first defeat of the season, but combined with junior
Jenna Royce on a strong pitching effort, allowing just one home run to the Lancers. In a 15-0 loss to CBU last season, Northwest Christian had allowed five homers in a single inning.
The Beacons (2-4) return to action next weekend, traveling to Portland for the Northwest Cup, hosted by Concordia University.
