No. 6 Oregon Tech Surges Past Beacons

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Tech went on a 17-4 run midway through the second half to turn a three-point lead into a 16-point advantage before pulling away for an 80-55 win over Northwest Christian University in a Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball game at Danny Miles Court on Saturday night.

Northwest Christian (5-6, 0-2 CCC) led 22-17 during the first half before OIT went on an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. NCU got to within 45-42 on a pair of free-throws by Jordan Buhler with 13:55 remaining before the Owls went on their extended run to put the game away.

NCU was led by Mitch Wilson and Brian Hampton, scoring 12 points each. Trevor Parker added eleven points and Buhler finished with nine points and a team-high six rebounds. The Beacons were outrebounded 47-33 in the game and shot 30.6% from the field.

Oregon Tech (10-1, 2-0) had four players in double-figures, led by Kyle Gomez with 20. Jason Gamblin added 16 points and nine rebounds, David Clark scored 12 points with five assists and Bobby Hunter ended the night with ten points, eleven rebounds and six assists. The Owls shot 50% from the field in the game and were 17-for-29 in the second half.

The Beacons will return home on Friday when they play host to William Jessup University at 7:30 pm.
