Beacons Topped by #13 Oregon Tech

EUGENE, Ore. – There would be no repeat of last season's Morse Event Center Miracle, when the Northwest Christian University men's basketball knocked off the highly ranked Oregon Tech Owls. Tonight is was OIT over the Beacons, 71-54.

For the second straight game, the Beacons went cold out of the blocks, this time unable to get a field goal for the first eight minutes of the game, until Brian Hampton drained a three-pointer with 12:17 on the clock. Oregon Tech continued to apply pressure throughout the half, forcing 9 NCU turnovers and holding the Beacons to just four field goals and 22% shooting.

The Beacons put together a stronger second half shooting as they went 52% from the field. Unfortunately, the Owls methodically kept their lead, never allowing NCU to get closer than 14 points.

Northwest Christian (6-10, 1-4 CCC) was led in defeat by Quentin Guidry (pictured) scoring 17 points on 8-for-14 shooting along with a team-high five rebounds. Mitch Wilson added eleven points off the bench. Hampton finished with five points but added a game-high five assists.

Oregon Tech (14-2, 6-0 CCC) was led by senior Joseph Foster scoring 16 points. Bryany Sentman added 14 and Brent Johnson scored 12 along with a game-high six rebounds.

Northwest Christian will be back in action on Tuesday, playing host to Pacific in their final non-conference tilt of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
