EUGENE, Ore. – Blake Solomon score 19 first-half points and finished with 28 to lead Northwest University to an important 80-70 victory over Northwest Christian University on Friday night. With the win, the Eagles move into eighth place in the Cascade Conference with four games remaining in the regular season. The Beacons remain in sixth with the loss.
Northwest (12-13, 6-10 CCC) was led by the 28-point output from Solomon, who shot 7-for-13 from the field and hit five three-pointers. Greg George added a double-double in the post, scoring 16 points and ten rebounds. Eddie Coulson scored 15 points for the Eagles. NU shot 51% in the game.
The Beacons (13-11, 7-8 CCC) were led by
Jordan Whittenburg (pictured) who hit three treys and finished with 22 points.
Andrew Williams added 13 points and
Andrew Miller scored ten along with six assists, two blocks and three steals in a solid all-around effort. NCU was outrebounded 41-25 and were held to just 43% shooting in the game. The NCU bench outscored their Northwest Counterparts, 20-10, including eight from
Dylan Perry, who also brought down a team-high four boards.
Northwest Christian remains at home on Saturday night, where they will take on #22 Evergreen State College, one of three teams tied for the Cascade Conference lead through Friday night's action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
