Box Score

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team held Walla Walla University to just 27.5% shooting on Tuesday night, leading to a 89-47 victory for the Beacons. NCU forced 34 turnovers in the game, collecting 16 steals.

“We played a great defensive game tonight,” said Head Coach Liz Turner-Bolton. “We did a great job of filling up their passing lanes and forcing them into plenty of bad passes.”

The Beacons were led by Emily Gray, scoring 18 points and eleven rebounds. Elise Gray (pictured)added 16 points and ten boards including a 6-for-8 effort at the free-throw line. The entire Beacon roster made it onto the floor and the NCU reserves ended the night outscoring their Wolf counterparts, 41-24.

Leading the way off the bench was Callie McVicker with 16 points, shooting 8-for-9 from the floor, along with a game-high four steals. Kelsey Bolander came off the pine for ten points. Bolton said, “Kelsey and Callie both did a nice job off the bench tonight. Callie proved us with quite the spark whenever she came in.”

Walla Walla (0-6) was led by Dominique Pusher. The only player in double figures for the Wolves, Pusher scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds. Alexis Glassman added nine points off the bench, despite shooting just 3-for-12.

The Beacons (4-3) will be back in action next Tuesday as they come home to face Simpson University at 7:30 pm. The Beacons defeated the Red Hawks on the road on November 4th, 73-67. In that game Emily and Elise Gray combined to score 43 points.
