Justin Hohenshelt

Justin Hohenshelt is the founder of the Chaplaincy Association of Collegiate Esports (CACE, pronounced cake). CACE, formed in June of 2022, is partnering with Bushnell University to pilot the program in its inaugural year.

Hohenshelt is a part of a Salem-based youth outreach organization called Satellite Gaming, and has been with them for nearly three years. At SG, Hohenshelt runs bible studies (both online and in person), is a missionary for SG, and a member of the executive team. He has been involved with gaming his whole life and his current favorite games include League of Legends, Valorant and Genshin Impact.

At Bushnell, Hohenshelt plans to serve Bushnell Esports as someone who can walk side by side with student-athletes as they take on a bigger world than they’ve ever experienced. Along the way, Hohenshelt is creating a replicable chaplaincy program that can be used for any esports team, putting the athlete’s mental health, heart, and spiritual strength at the forefront of the program’s mission.

Hohenshelt, along with his wife Makayla, live in Salem, Oregon. They have two children, Winston (4) and Evelyn (2).
