BLUE RIVER, Ore. – The 2026 Bushnell women's golf season kicked off with a bang this weekend, earning a commanding 113-shot victory over Corban University in their season opening dual.
At Pine Ridge Golf Course in Springfield on Friday, the Beacons shot an opening-round 322, just three strokes shy of their record set last November. It was only the fifth round ever for the Beacon women's golf team to come in under 330.
The tournament moved to Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River on Saturday and the Beacons closed with a 331, giving them a two-round score of 653 to break their tournament record by six strokes.
"I am super proud of our women's team today," said Director of Golf
Nathan Wiedenmann. "Jaylee had a great performance to earn medalist honors as she prevailed under some difficult course conditions."
The Beacons owned the top-six individual scores, led by a 13-shot victory for sophomore
Jaylee Hix. After firing a 74 on Friday, she finished with an 80 on Saturday to score a 154, equaling the second-best two-round tournament in school history and the best since the record of 148 (Kelsie Hellwege) was set in 2019.
Hix was followed by
Hailey Smith (81-86—167) and
Kylee Smith (82-86—168) in third.
Jada Richwine (85-85—170) followed in fourth while
Morgan Schlesinger (pictured) closed out the team scoring with a 93-80—173 in sixth place. The junior tied with Hix for the lowest round of the day on Saturday.
Making her Beacon debut and playing as an individual,
Jordyn Lorence claimed fifth place as she fired an 85-87—172.
Autumn McDonald also made her collegiate debut for the Beacons shooting a 102-103—205.
Corban closed out their tournament with a team score of 766, and was led by Ashlyn Thomas (88-86—174) in seventh and Madelyn Moore (90-93—183) in eighth.
UP NEXT: The Beacons will jump right into their first Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament of the season, next Monday and Tuesday, September 7-8, as they compete at the Oregon Tech Invitational at Running Y Golf Resort in Klamath Falls. Wiedenmann said, "I am excited about our first conference tournament next week. This team is just discovering their identity and potential on the course. It is going to be a great season."
