EUGENE, Ore. – In what may be their biggest challenge of the non-conference schedule, Bushnell played to an impressive 0-0 tie with Stanton University (Calif.) on Thursday night.
 
Playing against the defending California Pacific Conference champions and an NAIA national tournament qualifier from a year ago, the Beacons held their own, and became the first time in four tries to hold the Elks scoreless this season. For Stanton (3-0-1), a team currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll, it was their fourth consecutive shutout.
 
Stanton finished the game with a 13-6 advantage in shot attempts, but both teams walked away with an even four shots-on-goal, as Bushnell keeper Aaron Lowry earned his first clean sheet of the season with four saves.
 
"I am very proud of the effort our boys put forth tonight," said head coach Joao Ehlers. "We played a collective game and saw significant contributions from everyone."
 
UP NEXT: The Beacons will be back in action with a two-game road trip to Redding, California next week. They will take on Simpson University on Tuesday at 11:00 am and then Simpson will host a neutral-site game for Bushnell against Lincoln University on Wednesday at 12:00 pm.
