Women Own Sixth Place After Opening Round

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Bushnell women's golf team opened up play at Glendoveer Golf Club on Monday in the first round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament, landing in sixth place after the first 18 holes.  
 
The Beacons shot a 344 in the first round, keeping them two strokes ahead of Corban University in seventh. NAIA's top-ranked British Columbia leads the tournament by nine strokes after shooting a 302.
 
Two Beacons landed in the top-20 after the first round, led by freshman Hailey Smith in 13th (81) and sophomore Jada Richwine in 19th (83).
 
Kyle Smith also broke 90 on Monday with an 88, holding 30th place while Morgan Schlesinger (pictured) was in 35th place with a 92. Grace Wetherup shot a 101 to hold 38th.
 
The three-round, three-day tournament continues on Tuesday.
