KLAMATH FALLS, Oregon – Early scoring for No. 2 Oregon Tech gave Bushnell two hard-fought losses during Friday's matchup within the Cascade Collegiate Conference series.
Â
GAME ONE: Oregon Tech 5, Bushnell 1
Â
Bushnell saw its only run of the game in the top of the third, led by an RBI double from junior
Riley Peeler (pictured). A single from
Ashlyn Martin hoped to bring momentum in the sixth, but the Owls responded defensively to hold the Beacons from scoring.
Â
Sara Martin (4-4) started on the mound for the Beacons, striking out three batters during her two innings pitched.
Emily Cole came in relief for Martin, shutting out the Owls with zero runs scored during her four innings in the circle.
Â
GAME TWO: Oregon Tech 6, Bushnell 2
Â
A seventh inning surge for Bushnell was not enough to get past the initial lead from Oregon Tech. The late-game rally was led by an RBI triple to right-center field from
Taylor Kenworthy. Kenworthy went two-of-four at the plate in game two.Â
Â
Violet Richardson started the first inning with a single to left field. The other two hits of the day for the Beacons came from a double by
Haleigh Wambolt in the second, and a single by
Riley Peeler in the sixth.
Â
Emily Cole (2-9) started in the circle for Bushnell and pitched two innings.
Sara Martin came in relief, only giving three hits and one run in her four innings of action.
