OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Bushnell women's basketball team came face-to-face with one of the hottest teams in the CCC on Saturday afternoon, falling 70-47.
Â
The game was never really in doubt for the Geoducks, who jumped out to a 38-22 lead at halftime and held Bushnell (9-16, 8-11) to just 29% shooting. Evergreen out-rebounded the Beacons 43-31 and posted a dominant 28-14 edge in second-chance scoring, usually a calling card for the visitors.
Â
"I am very disappointed in how we played tonight," said Head Coach
Chad Meadors. "We lacked a lot of toughness and didn't execute the game plan. I want and I expect us to perform at a higher level and meet the standard we have set for ourselves. Give credit to Evergreen for shooting the ball extremely well and taking advantage of our miscues, but we have to hit a standard that we simply aren't right now."
Â
The Geoducks (7-14, 7-12 CCC) have now won four straight games to pull within a game of both Bushnell and Corban, who are tied for sixth-place in the Cascade Conference. Â
Â
Bushnell was led in the game by
Ayden Krupke, scoring 16 points while
Mandy Sisul added 11 points, shooting 3-for-3 from three point range.
Â
For Evergreen, Sydney VanNess scored a game-high 19 while Jalyn Sackrider posted 15 points and nine rebounds.
Â
Bushnell will look to rebound quickly as they take on Northwest University in Kirkland on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
