GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 6, BUSHNELL 0
Â
The Redhawks claimed a three-hit shutout in game one, behind a five-inning performance by Paige Salazar.
Â
For the Beacons,
Emma Fournier (0-1) got the start and wasn't able to make it out of the second inning, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in 1.1 innings.
Sara Martin came in strong in relief, going 4.2 innings and allowing just two unearned runs while giving up two hits.
Â
GAME TWO: BUSHNELL 4, BENEDICTINE 0
Â
Emily Cole (2-1) put on a pitching master class in game two, throwing a two-hitter. In seven innings of work, the senior struck out 11 batters, the most for a Beacon pitcher in six years. She survived a bases loaded, one-out jam in the third inning to preserve the shutout.
Â
The Beacons got the bats going with six hits, two apiece from
Brenna Wilson,
Violet Richardson, and
Taylor Kenworthy. Wilson scored what would be the only necessary run in the top of the first inning, leading off with a walk and later coming on a ground out.
Â
Bushnell posted two more runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Kenworthy, and Cole (pictured) helped her own cause in the top of the seventh, earning an RBI ground out to score Kenworthy from third.
