EUGENE, Ore. –For the second time this season, junior Soliel Sands was named the Cascade Conference McDonald's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, presented by Urban Edge Network, as announced by the CCC offices on Monday.

The Beacons (18-10, 12-6 CCC) went 2-0 on the road this weekend, picking up huge victories over (RV) Walla Walla University and No. 12 Lewis-Clark State and in the process, jumping into a tie with LC State for third-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

Sands collected 11 blocks over the weekend, averaging 1.38 blocks per set. She brought her season total to 117, breaking Bushnell's single-season record of 114 which had stood since 2019 (Natalie Downes).

The junior collected six blocks in a come-from-behind five-set victory against Walla Walla on Friday and added five more as the Beacons swept the No. 12 Warriors on Saturday.

Sand has two CCC Player of the Week awards in this her first season with the Beacons.

UP NEXT: The Beacons need just one win to secure a top-four finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, giving them a bye into the CCC tournament quarterfinals. They will play at home this weekend in their final two conference games, hosting Oregon Tech on Friday at 6:00 pm and Southern Oregon on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
