First-Half Goal Enough for Rocky Victory

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell men's soccer team closed out the regular season with another defensive battle Saturday night, falling to Rocky Mountain College, 1-0.

The Beacons (10-6-2, 4-6-2 CCC) were out-shot 8-4 and only created two shots-on-goal, both in the second half as they were defeated to clinch the No. 8 seed for the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament.

Rocky (7-1-7, 6-1-5) put up the only goal of the contest in the 38th minute as Fynn Sweeting collected a loose ball and blasted a rocket from just outside the 18-yard box, ricocheting off a defender and past a helpless Bushnell keeper for the eventual game-winner.

"We played well and controlled most of the possession in the second half," said Head Coach Joah Ehlers, "but we needed ideas up front to score some goals tonight and it just didn't happen."

UP NEXT: As the No. 8-seed for the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament, the Beacons are slotted to take on regular-season champion Eastern Oregon University in the quarterfinals at 7:00 pm on November 8.
