CALDWELL, Idaho – The Bushnell University women's basketball team struggled to score at the College of Idaho, dropping the Cascade Collegiate Conference game, 67-43.
Â
Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "We struggled tonight in most phases of the game. We turned the ball over too much and didn't execute the game plan. The question is where do we go from here and how do we refocus and continue to improve and get better. It doesn't get any easier, so we have to find a way to turn the tide and get some positive things going in our direction."
Â
After one of the better offensive games the night prior, Bushnell (4-10, 3-5 CCC) suffered one of its lowest shooting performances of the season, shooting 26.2% from the floor, including 4-of-21 from beyond the arc and were just 5-of-12 at the free throw line. The Beacons recorded four assists on the game.
Â
Ayden Krupke led the Beacons in scoring with 10 points.
Libby Mathis followed with nine points and six rebounds.
Â
The College of Idaho (7-5, 5-2) held just a 37-35 edge in rebounding thanks in part to a 14-3 margin for Bushnell in offensive boards. The Beacons turned their 14 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points compared to just three second-chance points for the Yotes.
Â
The Yotes spread out their scoring with 11 players recording points, led by 13 points apiece from Taryn Riley and Lainee Houillon. Riley added four steals, while Brooke Beresford tallied a game-high nine rebounds. Â
Â
The Beacons will look to get back on track next weekend as they take on Lewis-Clark State College (Jan. 10) and Walla Walla University (Jan. 11) on the road.
