Beacons Draw with Elks

EUGENE, Ore.  – A late goal forced the Bushnell men's soccer team to settle for a tie in their season opener on Friday evening, taking a 1-1 draw against Stanton University (Calif.).

A goal in the 34th minute put Bushnell in front for most of the game, but the Elks pulled out the equalizer with just over eight minutes remaining to spoil the Beacons' home opener.

Head Coach Joao Ehlers said, "I am pleased with our performance tonight. Our boys put forth a great effort and played a tough opponent. It was good to see some of our newcomers get to play and play well."

Bushnell's goal came off the foot of junior transfer Danny Rojas (pictured), scoring from 15-yards out after a brilliant breakaway by sophomore Omar Barajas, who threaded the needle between two defenders to get open for a perfect pass.

With the opening game behind them, Bushnell returns to the practice pitch for the next two weeks in preparation for their next counting game on September 1 at Pacific University.
