EUGENE, Ore. – The Corban University women's basketball team ended a 12-game losing streak to Bushnell on Monday evening, pulling out a 62-52 victory in the Morse Center.
The Warriors (5-7, 3-3 CCC) hadn't earned a win in the series since the spring of 2019, but led wire-to-wire and held the Beacons to 33% shooting to get the job done, forcing a season split.
Bushnell fell behind early and were down 29-18 at halftime after shooting just 7-for-27 from the field. The third quarter changed the tide, however, as Bushnell climbed to within 35-34 on an
Ellis Mastel layup with three minutes to go in the period.
Corban, however, wasn't done. The Warriors went back on the attack and earned their biggest lead of the night at 14 points midway through the fourth before taking the ten-point victory.
The Beacons (4-8, 3-3) were led by
Ayden Krupke who tied her season-high with 19 points, hitting a trio of three-pointers.
Libby Mathis added ten points and seven rebounds while
Maddie Gerhart scored five points and a game-high nine rebounds including six on the offensive glass.
Corban was led by Alyssa Wyllie, scoring 15 points and seven rebounds. Jenna Albrecht contributed ten points and Madison Hodnett finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Early in the CCC season, Bushnell is one of six teams that are between one game over and one game under .500, including both of their opponents this weekend. The Beacons will look to return to the win column as they hit the road for Cascade Conference games against Eastern Oregon (6-4, 2-3) and The College of Idaho (5-5, 3-2).
