EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell women's basketball team bounced back with a 60-44 victory over Northwest University in Saturday's Cascade Collegiate Conference contest in the Morse Center.
Â
Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "The Beacons played solid defensively all night long. It was fun to see us bounce back and stay together after a tough loss. We came out and found the offense early and competed all night long."
Â
The Beacons (8-5, 4-3 CCC) held the Eagles (1-11, 1-6) to 29.8% shooting, allowing no more than 13 points in any quarter. Bushnell posted a 44-31 advantage in rebounding with a 15-13 edge in offensive boards. Â Â Â Â Â
Â
Libby Mathis led all players with 19 points and 14 rebounds, her third consecutive double-double. Mathis added four assists and three blocks on the night.
Aspen Slifka tallied 18 points and six rebounds, and
Ayden Krupke recorded 10 points.
Â
Aly Mirabile finished with seven points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Â
"Our two staples, Libby and Aspen, were fantastic anchors," said Meadors. "I was really pleased with the way Aly was a floor general tonight and a calming influence. There was really positive energy coming out of Mandy on both ends of the floor which makes a huge difference for us."
Â
The Eagles were led by 12 points and seven rebounds from Alli VanKooten. Maya DuChesne recorded 11 points, while Kylie Lunday added eight points and six rebounds. Â Â Â Â Â Â
Â
Up next, Bushnell hosts Eastern Oregon University (Jan. 12) and the College of Idaho (Jan. 13).
