Beacons Fall at No. 14 Eastern Oregon

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The visiting Bushnell University women's basketball team fell to 14th-ranked Eastern Oregon University on Friday, 74-58, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game at Quinn Coliseum.

Eastern Oregon (23-2, 18-1 CCC) maintains its spot at the top of the CCC standings with Lewis-Clark State College, as they continue their fight for the regular season title. Bushnell (16-8, 13-6) looks to keep pace with Oregon Tech, who sits a game ahead of the Beacons for the four spot.

Bushnell held steady with Eastern heading into the break, trailing 41-33 as both sides were shooting 50% entering the intermission. The Mountaineers used a 15-9 third quarter to pull ahead 56-42 and Adyson Harris Shaw hit a three to open the fourth, giving the Mounties a 17-point lead, their biggest of the game. The Beacons did not get back within single digits.

EOU shot 49.2% as a team, including 9-of-15 (60%) from beyond the arc, but the Mountaineers struggled at the free throw line, making just 5-of-11.

Bushnell finished 43.1% from the field, shooting 4-of-15 (26.7%) from three-point range, and made all four free throw attempts. The Beacons were outrebounded 36-26, a season low.

Kalina Rojas led the Beacons with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and added five rebounds. Haley Hanson and Aspen Slifka recorded eight points apiece.

Saylor Liefke finished with a game-high 18 points to lead the Mountaineers. Harris Shaw recorded 16 points, while Brie Holecek posted 11 points and five assists. Beverly Slater grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
