SALEM, Ore. – Bushnell women's basketball rolled to their sixth win over their last seven games on Friday night, taking care of Corban University in a road rivalry victory, 53-48.
Libby Mathis (pictured) posted a double-double with a season-high 15 rebounds to lead Bushnell.
Â
The Beacons (6-3, 2-1 CCC) trailed the Warriors by five points at halftime, but went on an 11-4 run in the third quarter, holding Corban to just two buckets and 15% shooting in the period.
Â
Bushnell led by ten points with just five minutes to play before Corban made one last run, climbing to within one point with 95 seconds remaining. Foul trouble had plagued the home team all night as they posted 26 fouls to just 12 for the Beacons. That discrepancy caught up to them in the end as Bushnell was able to ice the game with nine free throws in the fourth quarter including four in the final minute.

Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "That was a great road win tonight. We found a way to get it done on a night when we had a hard time scoring. I'm proud of the kids for trying some stuff we hadn't done all year and they got us back on track in the third quarter. Defensively we have been solid all year and that continued tonight.
Â
Mathis ended the night with 19 points and 15 rebounds, adding four assists and a pair of blocks, all game-highs.
Aly Mirabile added ten points while
Aspen Slifka recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Â
Bushnell finished with a 43-36 advantage in rebounding including 14 offensive rebounds. "We won the battle of the boards tonight, in large part thanks to Libby," said Meadors. "She took control of the game early on was impressive. She played outstanding. Aly led us tonight and I am proud of how she made free throws for us down the stretch."
Â
Corban (2-6, 1-2) was led by Autumn Agnew, coming off the bench to score 19 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. Maddie Godwin scored 11 points.
Â
