Makenna Northern was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week on Monday, giving her a Bushnell-Record 11th such award.
Â
The senior setter from Brownsville had one of the most remarkable weekends of her historic career, leading the Beacons to back-to-back five-set victories over Northwest University and The Evergreen State College.
Â
She ran her streak of double-doubles to four straight as she broke the Bushnell record with her 40th and 41st over the weekend. That included a career-best 22 digs against Evergreen.
Â
Northern also broke her own single-match school record with 61 assists against the Geoducks and helped the team to 74 combined kills, breaking a school record that had stood since the first year of the program in 2006, when sets went to 30.
Â
Northern breaks a tie with former women's track & field star Bailey Dell, who had ten CCC Player of the Week honors during her All-American career. She is also the third Beacon volleyball player in as many weeks to pick up an award.
Â
The Beacons will be back in action this weekend when they hit the road for Lewis-Clark State College on Friday at 7:00 pm and Walla Walla University at 8:00 pm on Saturday.
