CCC Soccer Preseason Polls Released

EUGENE, Ore.  – The preseason coaches polls have been released from the Cascade Collegiate Conference for men's and women's soccer.

On the men's side, Warner Pacific and Southern Oregon tied for first-place and can be considered the co-favorites to win the conference crown.

The Knights picked up four first-place votes and 171 points on the poll after coming off a historic season. WPU grabbed a piece of the regular-season CCC championship and secured a spot in the NAIA Tournament for just the fifth time in school history. The Knights finished the year with a 15-4-2 overall and 11-1-1 CCC record.

Despite being left out of the NAIA tournament last year, the Raiders have earned some respect within the CCC and grabbed two first-place votes and 171 points to sit atop the preseason poll with WPU. SOU finished the 2021 campaign with a 15-3-1 overall mark and was the No. 3 seed in the CCC Men's Soccer Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, with a 10-3 conference record.

Four other teams earned first-place votes amongst the CCC men's soccer coaches. Corban University picked up two, defending tournament champion Oregon Tech secured four, while Rocky Mountain College and the College of Idaho each picked up one.

The Warriors and Owls were separated by one point in the preseason poll, with Corban taking the No. 3 spot with 167 points and OIT following in fourth with 166 points. The Battlin' Bears rounded out the top five with 139 points, while the Coyotes grabbed sixth with 128 points.

Eastern Oregon University and Northwest University also kept things close with the Mounties edging out the Eagles for seventh place by one point. Carroll College and The Evergreen State College filled in spots No. 9 and No. 10, while the University of Providence (No. 11), Bushnell University (No. 12), Multnomah University (No. 13), and Walla Walla University (No. 14) closed out the remaining spots on the poll.

For the women, Oregon Tech was the unanimous pick to repeat as CCC Champions.

The Owls picked up nine of 13 possible first-place votes, sitting atop the poll with 162 points. OIT finished the 2021 campaign with a 20-3-1 overall and 11-1 conference record, setting a record for most wins in a season and making a historic run at the NAIA Championship to finish ranked No. 4 overall – its highest-ever national ranking.

The College of Idaho follows the Owls in the No. 2 spot with 145 points, including one first-place vote. Southern Oregon University sits at No. 3 with 136 points, followed by Eastern Oregon University, which has some CCC coaches' interests piqued with three first-place votes.

Northwest University rounds out the top five with 121 points, while Corban University grabbed 106 points to sit in sixth and Rocky Mountain College follows in seventh with 100 points. Carroll College earned 82 points to hold at No. 8, while four points separate the No. 9, No. 10 and No. 11 spots. The Evergreen State College edges out the trio with 55 points, followed closely by Warner Pacific University with 54 points and the University of Providence with 51 points.

Bushnell University and Multnomah University close out the poll in the No. 12 and No. 13 spots, respectively.

The CCC season begins in just over a month on Sept. 16, with the conference tournament slated to start on Nov. 7, hosted by Bushnell.
