Jessup Claims Victory

ROCKLIN, Calif.  – The Bushnell men's soccer team played an even match with William Jessup on Friday afternoon, but walked away on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision in their second match of the season.

The Beacons (1-1) matched the Warriors (1-0) shot-for-shot and held a 7-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, but were never able to find the back of the net as the suffered their first shutout of the season.

"It was a tough loss," said head coach Joao Ehlers. "It is always difficult to play two games in 48 hours but the guys put in a great effort and stayed in the game for 90 minutes."

The teams were even at 15 shots apiece as Caleb Burke led Bushnell with five shots.

Ehlers said, "We are proud of the guys mentality and we will continue with the same intensity against Linfield on Sunday."

Bushnell will take on Linfield College in a scrimmage on Sunday and will look to regroup for their home opener, taking place next Friday against Park University-Gilbert at 1:00 pm at Civic Park in Eugene.
