ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Bushnell men's soccer team played an even match with William Jessup on Friday afternoon, but walked away on the wrong end of a 2-0 decision in their second match of the season.
Â
The Beacons (1-1) matched the Warriors (1-0) shot-for-shot and held a 7-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, but were never able to find the back of the net as the suffered their first shutout of the season.
Â
"It was a tough loss," said head coach
Joao Ehlers. "It is always difficult to play two games in 48 hours but the guys put in a great effort and stayed in the game for 90 minutes."
Â
The teams were even at 15 shots apiece as
Caleb Burke led Bushnell with five shots.
Â
Ehlers said, "We are proud of the guys mentality and we will continue with the same intensity against Linfield on Sunday."
Â
Bushnell will take on Linfield College in a scrimmage on Sunday and will look to regroup for their home opener, taking place next Friday against Park University-Gilbert at 1:00 pm at Civic Park in Eugene.
