SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Alyssa Ferreira set a single-game school record with two triples in game two and
Aliyah Kelly pitched a three-hit shutout as the Bushnell University softball team recorded a pair of wins over the University of Providence on Friday afternoon, 4-2 and 13-0, in their Cascade Collegiate Conference home opener at Rich Schwab Field.
Ferreira (pictured) recorded three triples on the day, finishing 4-for-6 at the plate with two RBIs and a pair of stolen bases.
The 13-0 win in the second game was the largest margin of victory for Bushnell (3-5, 2-0 CCC) since April 21, 2001. The Beacons also recorded their most runs since February 17, 2018.

GAME ONE: Bushnell 4, Providence 2
Sam Silver (2-2) earned her second straight win in the circle for the Beacons in the opener. She pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits.
Faith Wayman started off a strong day with an RBI-single up the middle in the top of the first to bring home
Anabel Mendez. Mendez doubled to get on base before advancing to third on an error.
Providence took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the Beacons would quickly respond in the following frame with a pair of runs of their own.
Jordan Kuykendall brought in both runs for the Beacons in the top of the fifth with a double down the left field line.
Madison Steelman and Mendez scored on the play after reaching on singles.
Ferreira hit her first triple of the day and first of the season for Bushnell in the top of the seventh to extend the lead to 4-2. Both Ferreira and Mendez finished with two hits on the game.
Carter Thornton (0-1) took the loss as the starter for the Argos, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits through seven innings of work.
GAME TWO: Bushnell 13, Providence 0 (5 innings)
The second game was one for the record books as the Beacons secured a 13-run margin of victory to secure the sweep on Friday.
Aliyah Kelly (1-3) grabbed her first career win and shutout, allowing just three hits through five innings along with five strikeouts.
The Beacons got out to a 10-0 lead before Kelly took her first pitch. Ferreira got the game started with a triple before stealing home to record the first run. Steelman and Ferreira combined for the double steal. Mendez and Wayman had RBI-singles in the inning, while the remaining runs were scored via walks, errors or hit by pitch.
The Argos loaded the bases with three consecutive one-out singles in the bottom of the first, but Kelly pitched her way out of the inning, concluding it with a strike out.
Krystal Akagi hit a sacrifice fly on her birthday to bring in Silver, and
Braydi Johnson scored on a passed ball to make it a 12-0 advantage for Bushnell. Wayman hit her second RBI-single of the game in the top of the fifth to conclude a strong day at the plate. She finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Bushnell finishes off the series tomorrow with another doubleheader, beginning at 11 a.m.
