Mirabile Carries Beacons to Bounce Back Win

EUGENE, Ore. – Sophomore Aly Mirabile scored a career-high 21 points and shot 80% from the field on Saturday afternoon, lifting the Bushnell women's basketball team to a 69-51 victory over Multnomah University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Beacons (13-9, 10-4 CCC) took a 22-13 lead after the opening quarter and never looked back, using a 51-39 rebounding margin to their advantage including 17 on the offensive glass. Bushnell shot 37% from the field and hit seven three-pointers, including three from Mirabile.

Head Coach Chad Meadors said, "I was really pleased with how we bounced back tonight. To see our players come together and build off the lessons we learned in yesterday's loss to Warner Pacific. Our mindset improved and our focus shifted and our team did a really good job of playing for each other tonight. It was fantastic to see Ally bound back and play a great game. She led us on the floor, but we also showed a lot of balance across the board."

Mirable shot 8-for-10, added six rebounds and a team-high three assists. Libby Mathis flirted with a double-double, scoring 13 points and nine rebounds while Bella Pedrojetti returned from COVID protocols to score ten points.

The Lions (4-16, 4-9 CCC) were led by 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench from Bailey Dickerson as the Multnomah reserves held an 18-11 lead in scoring on their Beacon counterparts. Elise Graham added ten points while Alaygza Portis added seven, along with a game-high four blocked shots.

Bushnell will hit the road next week, traveling to face Eastern Oregon University on Friday at 5:30 pm.
