PORTLAND, Ore. – Trailing early, Bushnell scored a pair of goals in close succession to make it close, only to see Warner Pacific tack on three late goals for a 6-2 victory in the final game of the season.
Â
Warner Pacific jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring two goals in the first half and adding a third in the 58th minute.
Â
With under 20 minutes remaining in the contest, it looked to be over but the Beacons had other ideas.
Ethan Crofts (pictured) found the back of the net on a free kick from 20-yards out with 16:54 to play.
Kyle Aure added another goal just 90 seconds later and the Beacons were threating, trailing 3-2.
Â
The Knights, however, answered quickly. In the 78th minute, Brennan Murphy scored his third goal of the game, and added his fourth in the 81st. WPU pushed one more into the net with two minutes to play as Cesar Lopez-Hernandez headed in a cross from Michael Cogburn for the 6-2 final.
Â
When all was said and done, Warner Pacific claimed a 23-13 advantage in shots and a 12-5 edge in shots-on-goal.
Â
The final tally could have been even bigger, had it not been for a Penalty Kick save by Bushnell junior keeper
Julian Hernandez. It was his fourth such save of the season, putting opponents at just a 50% success rate against him. Hernandez finished the game with six saves, giving him 196 in his career to rank second in school history.

Head Coach
Erik Carrazco said, "This group of seniors was special and leave behind some big shoes to fill. This group has been resilient throughout the season. It has been challenging for us in so many aspects and they battled all year. We found the back of the net with some regularity at the end of the season, which gives us something to build off of for next season."
Â
The Beacons close out the season at 0-12, 0-10 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
