Saints Save Series with Sweep

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College won the CCC series with a 6-5 victory in the opener on Saturday, and claimed a 17-2 victory in the non-conference night cap, sweeping the day against Bushnell University.

GAME ONE: Carroll 6, Bushnell 5

After taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Bushnell seemed to be playing catch-up throughout the opener. The Saints tied things up in the bottom of the first and Bushnell fought back to tie the game again at 3-3 and again at 5-5 before Carroll scored in the bottom of the sixth to pull ahead for good.

Miranda Jensen allowed just one earned run over the final four innings in relief, but took the loss for the Beacons. Jensen also batted 3-for-4 at the plate and scored twice while Jordan Kuykendall produced her second home run in as many games and added three RBI for the visitors.

GAME TWO: Carroll 17, Bushnell 2 (5 Innings)

Carroll scored seven runs in the first and ten in the second of game two, putting the contest well out of reach before the Beacons added their two runs in the fourth. The Saints ended the game with 17 hits while the Beacons had just three, singles from Kerry Murphy, Lilly Bauer and Faith Wayman.

One bright spot for the Beacons on Saturday were the nine stolen bases they were able to collect, including three for Jensen.

Bushnell remains on the road next weekend, heading to Salem to take on Corban University, beginning Friday at 2:00 pm.
