EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell University Overwatch team is ranked No. 7 in this week's National Association of Collegiate Esports Starleague Coaches' Poll, released on Monday.
The Beacons (2-2) move up to the seventh spot after receiving votes in last week's poll. The young Overwatch squad opened the season with a win over Lubbock Christian University. The Beacons took their first loss to Colorado College before bouncing back with a victory over Southern Methodist University the following match. Bushnell then fell to a tough Grand Canyon University team last week.
"Overall, I am very impressed with how the Overwatch team has improved this year," said Coach
Alex Daraban. "Being that we have such a young roster, with three of the players playing on an official team for the first time, they are very receptive and passionate to grow and learn."
The Overwatch squad consists of
Tyler "ShockMaster" Chase,
Aaron "MLG" May,
Brett "Unfazed" Olmstead,
Darryl "Darryl" Tillo,
Landon "Smores" Tuchardt and
Ian "Finami" Woodcock.
"This has been a joy as they have improved tenfold and picked up on important key team skills that usually players pick up after years of playing with other players," said Daraban. "I am excited to see where this team will be in the next two or so years as the players grow with each other and improve exponentially."
Bushnell has a tough task tonight as the team takes on No. 2 Boise State in a battle between two top-ten schools.
