Â
After a back and forth game of nine ties and 17 lead changes, The Beacons found themselves with a four-point lead late in the fourth quarter before back to back made buckets by the Owls, which tied them at 70-70 with a minute remaining.
Kayce Mock then had a two point and-one bucket that gave NCU a 73-70 lead. OIT was then able to respond as Emma McKenney found Kristin Farrell for a three-point shot to re-tie the game. After an NCU timeout with 12 seconds remaining,
Kaylen Kamelamela was able to find
Morgan McKinney for the go ahead bucket with under a second remaining in the game. OIT led in every statistical category outside of steals as the NCU defense grabbed nine steals and forced 16 turnovers which proved to be key in the victory.Â

NCU Head Coach
Chad Meadors stated, "It felt like we were trailing most the night, but man was it a good game. We found ourselves down nine quickly into the third quarter and we were able to come out of a time-out and level defensively to cause some turnovers to get us back in the game."Â Â
Â
After scoring 16 points in the first half,
Aspen Slifka was able to continue her hot hand to lead the Beacons (13-3, 7-1 CCC) with 30 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Junior
Morgan McKinney had 15 points, four assists, and three rebounds while
Kaylen Kamelamela added eleven points and five assists.Â
Â
Meadors said, "Aspen kept us in the game in the first half, she played absolutely outstanding.
Kayce Mock had a great and-one finish for us and then in the final seconds Kaylen kept her composure as right before she was about to put up a last second shot, she found Morgan on a cut to win the game. It is a great win for the Beacons and now we have to get ready for another tough one tomorrow against SOU."
Â
Courtney Clemmer led the Owls (11-7, 6-2) with 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field while Kristin Farrell added 14 points in the loss.
