Kinkade Barreiro picked the right time to score his first career goal, hitting the nylon in the 83rd minute and lifting the Northwest Christian University men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Multnomah.
The Beacons dominated possession in the contest by Multnomah kept things close with a pair of impressive goals. The Lions grabbed the lead on their first shot attempt of the game, as Jake O'Neil struck from 25-yards out onto the upper shelf for the 1-0 advantage.
NCU tied the contest just 37 seconds before halftime on an unassisted goal for
Paul Zarkin.
Three goals were scored in the last 15 minutes of the match as Senior
Nicolas Schapochnik scored his second goal of the season to take the 2-1 lead. Multnomah tied things up in the 82nd minute, and just one minute later, Barreiro scored off a pass from Jovanny Sanchez for the game-winner.
The Beacons out-shot the Lions (0-8, 0-4 CCC) 16-3 in the game.
Julian Hernandez took the win in goal for NCU without a save as MU's only two shots-on-goal for the night resulted in their two goals.
NCU will continue their road trip tomorrow, Saturday September 28 as they take on Warner Pacific (4-3, 1-2 CCC) at 7pm.
