KIRKLAND, Wash. – Sitting on the precipice of their first ever Cascade Conference post-season appearance, the Beacons fell just short, eliminated after getting swept by Northwest University in a CCC double-header on Friday, 1-0 and 3-2.
Â
It was an old-fashion pitching duel in both games with NU getting the best of it. Rachel Hawley and
Emma Jegtvig went toe-to-toe in the opener as Hawley (4-11) allowed just one hit, a double by
Sabrina Guerra. Jegtvig (7-14) took the loss despite allowing just one run on five hits while striking out eight batters.
Â
Isabella Gonzalez got the win in another tight game-two, claiming a 3-2 extra-inning win as she allowed no earned runs over eight innings.
Madi Jones (1-3) allowed just one earned run, but it was the one that counted, breaking the 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Â
Jess Garner and
Noel Balderston had two hits apiece for the Beacons.
Â
The 2019 season will come to an end on Saturday with NCU facing Northwest for two more games, the third conference clash followed by a non-conference game-four. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
