SALEM, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University women's golf team finished seventh this week at the Corban Spring Invitational but were fourth among CCC teams in the second-to-last conference tournament of the season.

The Beacons shot a two-round team score of 709 to trail third-place Corban by 45 shots. NCU was comfortably ahead of The College of Idaho (761) and Walla Walla (768). Associate CCC member British Columbia, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, won the event shooting a 591 as they defeated No. 12 Oregon Tech by 24 shots. The Owls, in turn, defeated Corban by 49.

Individually,
Kelsie Hellwege led the Beacons with a 20th-place finish, shooting an 80-83—163. Her opening-round 80 matched a season-low and her two-round score beat her career best by seven strokes.Â

Also competing for the Beacons were
Cassidy Krauss in 32nd (177).
Carli Brousseau and
Fernanda Gardea (pictured) tied for 41st (186) while
Stella Reaka took 43rd (187). Gardea shot a 91 in the opening round to set a new season-best while Reaka did the same at 93.

NCU will return to action for the final time at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship, taking place in Bend, Oregon at Pronghorn Golf Club on April 22-23.
