Beacons Win Fourth Straight

Eugene, Ore. - The Northwest Christian University women's basketball team beat Evergreen 87-60 Friday night behind the efficient shooting of Kayce Mock. The junior forward was perfect from the field as she flirted with a triple-double in the Beacons fourth consecutive victory.

After leading 40-31 at halftime, NCU outscored the Geoducks 47-29 in the second half as they shot 12-16 from the field and 4-8 from three in the third quarter. The Beacons continually displayed their unselfishness as they tallied 29 assists out of their possible 34 made field goals. NCU played with a lot of energy from start to finish as they collected 22 steals resulting in 29 points off turnovers along with outrebounding the Geoducks 45-32, with 19 offensive rebounds.

"This game of basketball is fun when you share the ball," said Head Coach Chad Meadors. "I was really impressed in our passing today, 29 assists on 34 baskets is an exciting way to play. I am really happy to see defensive pressure and the way we executed our defensive game plan."

Junior Kayce Mock led the Beacons (6-2, 2-0 CCC) as she shot 7-7 from the field, and 5-5 from beyond the arc to tally 19 points, seven rebounds, and seven steals. Morgan McKinney had a game-high 20 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and three steals while Shanay Dotson added 12 points, six assists, and five steals in the victory.

Meadors said, "Shanay Dotson was a catalyst with her constant pressure. Kayce and Morgan were fun to watch on the offensive end. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going into tomorrow night."'

Trinity Betoney led the Geoducks (0-6. 0-3) with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals while Merrily Jones added 10 points and six rebounds in the loss.

The Beacons will look to continue their momentum in Cascade Conference play as they host Northwest University (2-9, 1-2) on Saturday, December 21, at 5:30pm at the Morse Event Center.
