Yotes Find a Way in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore.  – Despite shooting just 32% from the field and going 1-for-15 from three-point range, the College of Idaho women's basketball team knocked off Northwest Christian University on Sunday afternoon, 61-44.

If the Yotes were shooting cold, the Beacons were icicles, hitting just 28% of their shots and hitting three triples on 18 attempts. The College of Idaho won each of the four quarters and after owning a 22-18 halftime lead, pulled away in the second half without giving NCU any solid opportunities to mount a comeback.

College of Idaho (4-6, 2-2 CCC) out-rebounded the Beacons 49-44 and forced 23 NCU turnovers in the win. Emily Harwood was the top scorer, collecting 16 points while Jocelyn Cook-Cox added 12. Alyssa Case scored nine points and 11 rebounds despite fighting through foul trouble for most of the second half.

The Beacons (5-9, 2-3 CCC) were led by sophomore Morgan McKinney's double double, scoring ten points and ten rebounds along with three blocked shots. Dani Baker came off the bench to score seven points as the NCU reserves out-scored their C of I counterparts, 18-10.

NCU will be back on the court on December 29, traveling to take on Evergreen. The Yotes head home for a Tuesday evening clash with No. 14 Eastern Oregon University.
