Raiders End NCU Win Streak

Box Score EUGENE, Ore.  – After a road weekend in which the Northwest Christian University men's soccer team held their opponents off the scoreboard, the tables were turned in a 2-0 loss to Southern Oregon University at home on Friday.

The Raiders (5-5, 5-0 CCC) scored once in each half and held the Beacons to just one shot-on-goal in the game, giving keeper Wyatt Zabinksi the save.

NCU (2-5-1, 2-2-1) had two shot attempts apiece from Victor Irechukwu and Sanad Elghanai, with Irechukwu collecting the ony shot-on-goal in the second half.

The score could have been worse had it not been for a pair of saves credited to the defense including a ball that was headed away just in front of an empty net.

SOU got on the board in the 16th minute when Ahmon Afenegus curled a free-kick into the goal from just inside the left corner. The second came in the 66th minute as Sean McManamon took a through ball from Jared Delaney, got ahead of the defense and beat the keeper from 20-yards.

The Beacons return to action at 7:00 pm Saturday as they host Oregon Tech. SOU heads to Salem for a first-place showdown against the only other undefeated team in the conference, No. 5 Corban at 3 pm.
