No. 24 Beacons Bounce Back with 83-44 Victory Over Yotes

CALDWELL, Idaho. – The No. 24 Northwest Christian University women's basketball team rebounded in a big way on Saturday night, nearly doubling-up the College of Idaho Coyotes by a final of 83-44 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
 
NCU (9-1, 2-1 CCC) shot 42.3% from the field while holding C of I to just 24.6%. The Beacons had 11 players register points on the night, while holding the edge in rebounds (60-34), second chance points (17-3), and points in the paint (26-14).
 
The Beacons dominated from the opening tip, beginning the game on an impressive 21-point run, holding the home side scoreless for the first six minutes of action while scoring at will. Their lead never dipped below 15 for the remainder of the game, finishing the half up 30 and increasing their margin in each quarter.
 
"I was really happy with the intensity and effort that we came out with tonight." NCU Head Coach Heath Alexander said. "We were really aggressive defensively, and it paid off."
 
Janae Turner led the Beacons in scoring with 20 points, hitting six-of-nine three-point attempts and 7-11 (63.6%) in all. Morgan McKinney and Dani Baker each tacked on 14 points. McKinney shot a lights-out 85.7% on the night, while Baker went 4-7 from beyond the arc while pulling down five rebounds in her 11 minutes off the bench. Senior Niki Duncan knocked-down three long-range shots for nine points, all in the first quarter, in addition to snagging four rebounds and blocking two shots. Anamaria Virjoghe and Katerina Brejchova each had eight boards while combining for six points.
 
Alyssa Case carried the load for C of I (1-9, 1-3), scoring a game-high 23 points with six rebounds and four steals. Adriana Vickery was the next leading scorer for the Yotes with seven points.
 
Northwest Christian returns to the court after Christmas break with their first conference home game of the season, a 5:30 tip on Friday, December 29 against the Evergreen State College Geoducks.
