REDDING, Calif.  – The Northwest Christian University men's soccer team is 3-0 for the first time in school history after a 2-0 road win against Simpson University on Monday.

Guilherma Almeida (pictured) scored in the 35th minute off a cross from
Colin McManamon, giving the Beacons the game-winner and a 1-0 halftime lead.

In the second half,
Victor Irechukwu provided the cushion, collecting the rebound off a muffed save of an
Angel Sandoval shot and finding the back of the net.

Sophomore
Levi Davidson and freshman
Yayo Olvera each played a half, combining to make three saves. NCU had plenty of chances to add to their advantage as they dominated possession and held an 18-3 advantage in shots-on-goal. Overall, the Beacons out-shot Simpson 34-15.
Head Coach
Benny Flores said, "We didn't play our best today but to come away from this trip 3-0 is a good feeling for the boys. We have to continue to push ourselves to be spectacular. We can not settle for ordinary."

The Beacons will come back to town to play in their home opener on Friday, playing host to Linfield College at 3 p.m.
