Beacons Open With a Bang

Box Score EUGENE, Ore.  – The Northwest Christian University men's soccer team took care of business on Friday night in their season opener, knocking off Sierra Nevada College, 3-1.

Sophomore Victor Irechuckwu, scored the first goal of the season in the first half and the Beacons carried a 1-0 lead into the final 45 minutes.

After the Eagles tied the contest, junior Raul Segoviano gave the Beacons back the lead, scoring the game-winning goal. Segoviano went on to add an insurance goal as well.

Head Coach Benny Flores said, "I am excited that the boys got the victory night. They played hard and earned it. We are still in the process of learning to play to our talent level. We started slow and it took some time to get our legs under us but they worked through it. It was a great start for Victor and Raul. Victor was dynamic and could have scored a few more times. Raul came through when our team needed a lift. He is going to be a very special player for us."

NCU will continue their current three-game road trip on Sunday, traveling to face Pacific Union College at 1 p.m.
