EUGENE, Ore. – A four-game winning streak fell on Tuesday, as did a string of 334 minutes without giving up a goal, with a defeat at the hands of Pacific Lutheran College, 2-1.
Â
The Lutes (3-2-1) scored a pair of first half goals and survived an 11-9 shot deficit that included five shots on goal for the Beacons and just four for PLU. NCU also held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks, but couldn't come away with the win.
Â
Pacific Lutheran got on the board first in the 36th minute when Eddie Na beat a defender and went one-on-one with the keeper before scoring. Another defensive breakdown by the Beacons in the 44th minute allowed a cross from Hayden Simon to find its way to Holton Halfaker for the game-winner.
Â
Raul Segoviano (pictured) put the Beacons on the board in the 57th minute with the only goal of the second half when he drove into the box on his own and blasted a shot into the back of the net. It was his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Head Coach
Benny Flores said, "I am really proud of the boys' effort today. We came out and played NCU soccer and controlled the game. When you make defensive mistakes against a good team they will capitalize and that is what happened today."
Â
Outside of the two scoring plays, the NCU defense continued their lockdown efforts, as keeper
Yayo Olvera needed to make just two saves. Flores credited the play of his outside backs, sophomores
Tanner Nelson and
Tyler Farmer.
Â
The preseason has come to a close and the Beacons will now prepare for Friday's Cascade Collegiate Conference opener against Carroll College. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
