Fritter Cracks 30th As Beacons Drop a Pair

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Senior Parker Fritter became just the second player in NCU softball history to hit 30 home runs in her career on Thursday as the Beacons were swept by Eastern Oregon University, 8-0 and 4-2 in a CCC double-header.

Fritter blasted a solo homer in the fifth inning of game two as NCU attempted to come back from an early 4-0 hole. The Beacons added another run in the sixth but it wasn't enough.

The Mounties took game one in run-rule fashion as they scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, including a walk-off grand slam. NCU had four hits in the game including a triple from sophomore Anita Singh who went 2-for-3.

Janieve Boyles (2-6) took the loss for the Beacons, allowing seven earned runs in 4.2 innings of work.

Singh also had one of NCU's four hits in the second game and after stealing second base in the sixth inning, accounted for the Beacons second run on an RBI double from Paige Griffith. Breanne Johnson (3-6) went the distance for the Beacons and allowed just two earned runs while striking out four batters.

Fritter is now just two home runs away from tying the NCU single-season record, held by Cassie Bishop (32).

NCU will return to action on Saturday, playing at The College of Idaho for a double-header beginning at 11 am (MST).
