EUGENE, Ore. – A two-game losing streak was put to rest on Tuesday night as the Northwest Christian University women's basketball team took down cross town rival New Hope Christian, 71-55. Sophomore
Monique Thompson (pictured) stuffed the stat sheet, leading NCU with 15 points and seven assists, adding seven rebounds and three steals.

The Beacons (4-3) shot 40% in the game while holding the Deacons (5-3) to a 32.7% clip. NCU started fast and built a 36-25 lead at the half, having scored their highest first-half total of the season.

NCU built on the fast start with a dominating third quarter, setting a new single-quarter benchmark with 26 points after shooting out with a 13-2 run. NCU hit six three-pointers in the third frame, getting three apiece from senior
Sami Pitts and freshman
Jenna Christenson.

The Deacons mounted a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, outscoring NCU 16-9 as the Beacons were able to give a substantial amount of playing time to the reserves.

The Beacons had three players in double figures with Thompson, Pitts (14) and Christenson (12). Pitts and Christenson each hit four three-pointers in the contest.
Hanna Mack led the team with eight rebounds and two blocks while
Andrea Gloss finished the game with eight points and five assists. NCU used their height to their advantage on Tuesday, out-rebounding NHCC, 48-34.

New Hope was led by Jess Logan, scoring 14 points and three blocks. Ellie Gould nearly posted a double-double as she scored ten points and a team-leading eight rebounds.

The Beacons will be back in action on Wednesday, December 2 when they travel to the University of Idaho for an exhibition at 5:30 pm MST.Â
