OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Northwest Christian University men's soccer team lost their season finale on Saturday to The Evergreen State College, 5-1. The Geoducks scored early and often, outshooting the Beacons, 27-11.
ESC got on the board quickly, scoring in the seventh minute on an unassisted goal for Corey Johnson. Just two minute later, the Beacons got the equalizer as a long free kick from
Travis Brown found the head of
Peter VanderBogart (pictured) who scored inside the right post.
The tie game lasted until the 20th minute when Evergreen punched in the eventual game winner when Joe O'Brien scored off a corner kick. The Geoducks went on to add one more goal just before half-time, making it 3-1. Two more goals from two different goal scorers in the second half led to the final tally.
Northwest Christian took 11 shots on the night including five on goal.
Erik Carrazco registered seven saves in goal as he went the distance.
Evergreen State (5-11-2, 4-8-2 CCC) got four saves for keeper Christian Pettit, who allowed one goal.
The Beacons end the season with a record of 3-14-1, having gone 1-12-1 in the CCC, taking eighth place.
