EUGENE, Ore. – Corban University scored a goal in each half, defeating Northwest Christian University 2-0 on Saturday in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer action.
The Warriors held a slim 4-2 edge in shot-on-goal, but they converted at a 50% clip with their first score coming in the 32nd minute. Derik Chaney sent a cross into Aaron Kinnes who headed home the eventual game winner.
In the second half, Steffan Bard found possession of a loose ball at the 18-yard line and fired home a 15-yard strike right down the middle of the net for the insurance goal.
Northwest Christian (2-12-1, 0-10-1 CCC) was outshot 12-5 in the game.
Nick Kratzke finished with two saves for the Beacons.
Corban (9-6, 7-4) holds onto sole possession of third-place in the CCC with their victory. Steven Mason recorded the shutout for the Warriors, making a pair of saves in the game.
NCU will be back in action next Friday when they play host to Oregon Tech at 4:00 pm.
