Box Score
EUGENE, Ore. – The Northwest Christian University men's soccer team continues their best start in school history, knocking off Linfield College on Saturday, 2-1. The Beacons are now 3-1 on the season, and are just one win shy of tying the school's all-time record.
NCU stuck first on Saturday, scoring in the 7th minute.
Jun Yoon took the corner kick and sent it into the box where it found the head of
Denton Brown, striking the ball over the keeper for his first goal of the season.
Linfield got back into the game in the 26th minute, when Midfielder Michel Camacho got the ball and fired a long 25-yard strike into the upper right side of the net, evening the score at 1-1.
The Beacons struck one more time before the end of the first half, when Senior
Aaron Dilla (pictured) created a turnover deep in Wildcat territory and wasted no time firing in a strike, going left to right across the box and into the net, for what would become the game winner.
NCU survived a strong second-half attack from Linfield, who six shots over the final 45 minutes, including four on-goal, all from the foot of freshman Tyler Repic. Beacon goalkeeper
Nick Kratzke made six saves in the game to pick up the win, his school-record third as a keeper.
Head Coach
Brett Bentley said, “I was really impressed with how the guys played today. They were very tired after two hard fought games this week. They struggled to get possession of the game like we normally do, and today we weren't doing the extra work off the ball to find passes. After halftime they came out and started to let the ball do the work, keeping it simple and we did a great job holding our ground defensively and didn't give up many quality chances.”
The Beacons will be back in action on September 17th, traveling to Salem to start Cascade Conference play against Corban College.
